Fighting for Our Youth

Right now, our little grassroots youth space is at a crossroads. We’ve built something beautiful here in Nimbin — a place where young people can drop in, feel safe, share a meal, jump on the computers, or just chill and know they are loved.

It’s not fancy, it’s not funded by millions, but it’s real. It’s us. But like so many community-led spaces in small rural towns, we’re facing the constant question: will we be allowed to keep going?

The truth is, our young people need us. Not just here in Nimbin, but in every remote and rural community where there aren’t enough services, where isolation is real and where one safe space can make all the difference (we are making a difference!)

That’s why we’re gathering letters of support, building a petition and raising our collective voice to those in power. We’re saying: don’t overlook us. Our young people deserve more than to slip through the cracks. They deserve advocacy, hope and a space to simply be young.

This fight isn’t just about one youth centre. It’s about proving that grassroots, community-led initiatives work and that they’re worth protecting.

So if you’re reading this and you believe in the power of community, please stand with us. Add your voice. Share our story.

Help us show that even in the smallest of towns, young people deserve big support.

Because our youth space isn’t just four walls. It’s meals shared, tears comforted, laughter echoed and futures quietly being pieced together.

And it needs to stay open ♡
