Let’s Talk About Talking (a.k.a. Gossip)

There’s something a little icky about gossip, isn’t there?

That slow drip of conversation that starts as “concern” and ends up twisting into something that leaves a funny feeling in the pit of your stomach ♡

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to fall into it ~ even accidentally. Small towns, small circles, small talk. It’s everywhere. And honestly, if someone has the time to talk about you, maybe it says more about where they’re at than who you are ♡

Because honestly, if the most interesting thing someone can bring to the table is another human’s life…..then maybe it’s time to find a bigger table. One with conversations that build, not break.

Words are powerful. They can heal, or they can harm and once they’re out there, you can’t reel them back in.

So I’m trying to choose the ones that feel good when they land. The kind that make people feel seen, not sized up.

Kindness doesn’t mean silence, but it does mean discernment. It means checking in before you speak: “Is this true? Is it kind? Is it mine to tell?” If not ~ maybe let it dissolve right there.

I think when we stop talking about humans and start talking to them ~ that’s when community starts to feel real again ♡

So here’s to conversations with depth, curiosity and respect 🙏

Here’s to building each other up instead of picking each other apart ♡

And here’s to remembering: silence is sometimes the kindest sentence of all ♡
